Switzerland is one of the few places that one has dreamed of visiting, more than once in one’s life. Switzerland holidays are one of those unforgettable holidays that leave an indelible print in your mind, as does Kashmir! Some of us must have experienced the incredible pleasure of the natural paradises on Earth that both Switzerland set in the Alps and Kashmir set in the Himalayas, offer. While snow covered mountains, tall pines, placid lakes at the foot of the hills, beautiful wooden houses, make these places look awesome both in summer and winter, Switzerland is much closer to the UK and safer. Unfortunately, places of unimaginable beauty with rose gardens in the summer and soft snow clad mountains in the winter, amid the tallest mountains and pine trees in the world, a ride on the gondola in Gulmarg in Kashmir, a mind blowing experience, have been rendered unsafe due to the threat of terrorism. At least, the natural beauty of Switzerland is still accessible to us, and holidays in Switzerland are not fraught with the risk of such activity allowing us the freedom to explore. A short but good taster itinerary to explore Switzerland in few days is the Lucerne, Interlaken route, with Glasi Hergiswil, a traditional glass arts centre near Lucerne, Aareschlucht with the Aare gorge, the Jungfrau region in Interlaken followed by Blausee and Oeschinensee.

Another, totally different travel destination for someone seeking sunshine, seaside walks, and lots of culture, is a jewel in the south of Europe along the Mediterranean - Greece. Greece holidays offer varied experiences, landscapes and things to do ranging from the pristine beauty of the Parthenon in Athens, the ancient beauty of Delos to the pulsating nightclubs Mykonos from the spiritual spectacle of Delphi to the natural beauty of Ioannina from the undulating hillsides of Crete to the resplendent wildflowers of spring! Holidays in Greece spent in beautiful Greek villas under the Mykonos sun, listening to the melancholy strains of Thessaloniki rembetika or the blues while savouring the pleasure of home-made tzatziki, and grabbing bites of the local Greek life at the kafeneia or coffee shops. So if you are looking for a combination of buzzing modern life steeped in ancient history and culture, and yet close to nature, Greece is the place to head.

Finally, if you are planning to stay closer to home this summer, England holidays never disappoint. Right from the stunning natural splendour of Cornwall in the West, to the Peak and Lake Districts in the north, together with Scotland, or the holidays by the beach in Bournemouth, Portsmouth or Brighton, England had a range of locations to explore. So perhaps its time to browse and book your coveted summer holiday with a promise of sunshine, before its already winter!!
